Description by OLDIES.com:
Master thief Daniel Treve and his gang steal a fortune in jewels from the mansion of a leading Boston socialite. On the run from the law, he passes through a small town in Connecticut where he meets pretty young orphan Mary Gate, and saves the girl from a prison sentence by agreeing to marry her. He secretly hides the stolen gems in his "brides's" suitcase, who smuggles them into Manhattan, without knowing it. Once in the city, Daniel gives Mary enough cash to begin a new life, bids her farewell and disappears for parts unknown. What Mary cannot realize, is that Daniel has fallen in love with her. He has set off in a desperate attempt to clean up his life, pay his debts to society, and return when he can feel worthy of her.
Handsome leading man Lloyd Hughes was a silent screen star appearing opposite Mary Astor, Colleen Moore and Mary Pickford. Some of his most notable roles include Tess Of The Storm Country (1922), The Lost World (1925) and Moby Dick (1930). Beautiful Marian Nixon is best remembered for her roles in Rebecca Of Sunnybrook Farm (1932), Captain Calamity (1936) and Tango (1936).
